Mr. Conley's 5/18/2017 Message

Good morning parents,

As the members of the Class of 2017 countdown the remaining days of school until Graduation Day on June 7, the UHS family will spend this month celebrating our Seniors through various events. This is certainly a time of excitement and joy, coupled with moments of reflection and nostalgia about the countless memories that our students, and their respective families, have spent “growing up” together as members of the UCFSD family.

Today’s E-news will update you on some events that are happening at UHS this month. Please be sure to keep up to date on all high school events by following me on Instagram: mr_conley_uhs on Twitter: @MrConleyUHS (#CatchTheSpirit & #UAreWorldClass), “Liking” The Unionville High School FaceBook page, accessing our website, or reading this monthly E-News. Our goal is to provide parents with multiple means of communication about life at UHS.

UHS Prom and After-Prom Party

The Junior/Senior Prom will be held this Saturday, May 20, at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Downtown Wilmington, DE at 700 N. King Street (Legal District). Students will participate in a breathalyzer screening on the way into and out of the dance. A special thank you to Mr. Pat Clark and Mr. Joe Kilpatrick, our 11th and 12th grade class advisors, for organizing Saturday’s Prom.

After the Prom has concluded, the UHS PTO will be hosting an After-Prom Party on Saturday, May 20, at UHS. Students may sign-in that night between 11:00 p.m. and midnight. Students may not arrive after midnight, and may choose to have a parent pick them up at 3:00 a.m. or leave at 5:00 a.m. Sunday, May 21. All junior and senior students are invited to attend the party even if they do not attend The Prom. No fee will be charged to enter the After-Prom. There will be a community walk-through to tour the amazing After-Prom decor on Saturday, May 20 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
*A HUGE THANK YOU to the UHS PTO and all of our parent and community volunteers for your generosity and dedication to this wonderful event.

Senior Awards Night

A program to recognize outstanding achievement by members of the Class of 2017 will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, in the high school auditorium. This event is a time when our external Community Partners present awards and scholarships. Parents of seniors being honored will receive a written invitation to attend the program. All parents and members of the class are invited to attend.

New this year--The Senior Stroll and Senior Picnic

This year, we are starting a new UHS tradition, “The Senior Stroll." On Tuesday, May 30, students will arrive to school at their normal time. Students will load a bus which will take them back to their grade school for a stroll through the hallways in their Commencement cap and gown. Each of the elementary school principals and staffs are so excited to see our members of the Class of 2017 again, and they have big plans for their visit. Upon return to UHS, we will have our Senior Picnic and distribute yearbooks to the members of the Class of 2017.

Thank you, and have a wonderful month!
